Book Synopsis A Fire Management Simulation Model Using Stochastic Arrival Times by : Eric L. Smith
Book excerpt: A stochastic dispatch approach for use in fire management simulation models was designed to incorporate variation in initial attack arrival times and dispatch sequences due to simultaneous fires or other causes. The sensitivity of final fire size to suppression force differences exist between using arrival time distributions and average arrival times. The most important difference is that use of average arrival times can give results that overestimate effects of changes in fire spread in some portion of the spread rate range and underestimate them in others.
